Lisa George, MPH, CHES

    Program Manager, Communications and Aging Initiatives

    Lisa George is a program manager of communications and aging initiatives, leading the Foundation’s serious illness and-of-life initiatives and supporting overall organizational communications efforts. She also serves as coordinator for Pennsylvania’s POLST program and CQEL (founded as the Coalition for Quality at the End of Life). She manages the Foundation’s serious illness and end-of-life education efforts, including the Death and Dying Fellowship for graduate students and the Death and Dying Series for Healthcare Professionals, helping to equip new and seasoned clinicians with the skills and confidence to engage in essential conversations with patients and families. Prior to joining the Foundation, George served as senior editorial manager at the Oncology Nursing Society where she played a central role in launching its book publishing program. Her work there helped bring award-winning resources to cancer care professionals, patients, and caregivers. George earned a bachelor's in English literature and a master's in public health with a focus on behavioral and community health sciences, both from the University of Pittsburgh. During her master's work, she participated in research exploring innovative approaches to addressing unmet social needs in the clinical setting. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist and a graduate of JHF's 2020 Patient Safety Fellowship.
