Carol Mullaney, RN, BSN has been in the nursing field in the Pittsburgh area for over 15 years. Carol obtained her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and began her career as an operating room nurse where she became certified in OR nursing through the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses. She had a role on the hand transplant team and employee retention committee. Carol has moved on to outpatient nursing and is an expert in neurosurgical and urological nursing. She currently works for the largest neurosurgery team in the world.

While pursuing her Master of Science in nursing degree from Capella University she worked for and assisted in developing the Short-Term Acute Care program for a large health insurance plan. This unique home-based program provided an alternative to hospitalization.

Carol holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Ohio University. She recently was a fellow of the Jewish Health Foundation’s Patient Safety Fellowship and obtained a full scholarship from the JHF to attend the four-day workshop through the Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety in Breckenridge, Colorado.

She is proud of earning her 5th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate. Carol has a wide martial arts history including Haidong Gumdo, Jujitsu and Tai Chi. Carol loves to camp in her 5th wheel RV with her husband Tom and their Shiba Inu, Anko. Her two children are currently making this world a better place through professional engineering and law school.
